The Best Workaround For LinkedIn’s Search Restriction (LinkedIn Search Limit Hack)

If you’re an avid LinkedIn user, you may have noticed search result restrictions on your Basic LinkedIn profile. We know that search results can be restricted due to the limits in place for ‘commercial use’ of LinkedIn – but this limitation is entirely different. It turns out, that in some cases LinkedIn have been hiding search results – leading the user to believe that there are only a few pages of results, when in fact there are many more. In the example we tried for ourselves, we found that LinkedIn was showing only 30 results for our chosen search. By using the method below, we discovered that there were in fact 848 results – that’s 25x more results than we were led to believe!

What Is The Restriction Based On?

The truth is, no one really knows. Our best guess is that it’s LinkedIn’s way of coercing you into a LinkedIn Premium membership so that you can access the full results with no need for workarounds. What we do know is, it’s a very irritating flaw that can have a huge impact on the success of campaigns you’re running – you could be missing out on hundreds of qualified prospects.

The Workaround (or the LinkedIn Search Limit Hack)

What do you do if LinkedIn is only showing you 1 page of results and you know that there must be more? This technique looks at the URL of the search. Start by performing your search as normal – in this example we have searched for Marketing Managers in LinkedIn. Once you hit the search button, you will notice the search URL in your browser bar change.

LinkedIn’s pages are sorted chronologically – this means that all you need to do to access the restricted pages of your search results is to add &page=2 to the end of this search URL. By manually entering the next number in the sequence, you will be navigated to the following page. This overrides and restrictions LinkedIn has put in place, allowing you full access to the real results.

It really is as simple as that! Now you can search for as many users as you like, even if LinkedIn is choosing to show you only a few pages of results. This trick could unlock hundreds of qualified prospects and could make all the difference in turning your campaign into a money making success.
