A Guide To Effective LinkedIn Sales Messages [Templates]

If you’re using LinkedProspect, crafting effective LinkedIn sales messages  is your secret weapon to success. First impressions count for a lot, so it’s important to craft reply-worthy copy that will get you started off on the right foot.

Every company is of course different, but the templates and best practices below are a great starting point – just personalise them where you can.

The Connection Request Message

The Connection Request message will be sent to the prospects of your choice, inviting them to connect with you. We find that the most effective Connection Request copy offers something unique to prospects and mentions up-front the reason for reaching out. By asking users to connect with you and if they’d like to find out more about what you have to offer, it means that to some extent new connections are self-qualifying.

Effective Connection Request copy offers something unique to prospects and mentions up-front the reason for reaching out.

Example:

Hi @firstName, how’s it going? Would you be interested in [service/product] that will [explain the benefit]? If so, let’s connect and I’ll be happy to fill you in. Thanks, Dan

In our case the message would read:

Hi @firstName, how’s it going? Would you be interested in a tool that can send automated, personalised messages to thousands of your selected LinkedIn prospects?  If so, let’s connect and I’ll be happy to fill you in. Thanks, Dan

While this approach is simple and to the point, it requests permission to start a dialogue and sparks prospects’ curiosity.

The Auto-Responder Message

The Auto-Responder message will be sent to all new connections. If you’ve used the sample above and the prospect has accepted your invitation to start a dialogue, you can now start to reveal more about what you have to offer.

First and foremost, the perfect Auto-Responder message should provoke a conversation and should be used to either make prospects want to say “I need to act on this, fast”, or “I want to know more about this”.

Example:

Myself and my team have just developed [unique product/service]. It can [explain a unique selling point. Do you offer a discount or a free trial?]. Is this something that you’d be interested in?

If you are not the right person to ddiscuss this with can you point in the direction of your colleague who will be?

Looking forward to hearing from you, @firstname!

Thanks, Dan.
